Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup career is over. See highlights of his last game

Cristiano Ronaldo has played his final FIFA World Cup game.

Portugal’s round-of-16 loss to Spain on Monday, July 6 closed the book on the famed striker’s World Cup career. Ronaldo, who is 41, confirmed prior to the game that this would be his sixth and final World Cup.

Ronaldo goes out as Portugal‘s all-time leading World Cup scorer with 11 goals across 27 appearances, including three goals at the 2026 tournament.

Although he failed to score against Spain and Portugal were ultimately eliminated, Ronaldo set multiple records earlier in the tournament. He became the first man to score in six World Cups and the oldest non-goalkeeper to start a World Cup game.

Ronaldo’s best chance against Spain was late in the first half. With his back to the goal, he stretched full out and put a cheeky flick on target, but Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón made a leaping save to deny him a goal.

In the first half, Portugal took possession off a Spain turnover and Ronaldo ripped a shot right at the goalkeeper.
