Courtois set to sign contract extension with Real Madrid -report

Real Madrid are set to sign goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to a one-year extension before the end of this summer’s transfer window, according to a report published on AS. Courtois’ current deal expires in 2027 and he is 34 years old, so that’s the reason why Madrid will give him one-year extensions from now on.

Courtois has had issues with injuries for a while now, and this year hasn’t been the exception. In fact, he was forced to leave Belgium‘s crucial match against Spain in the FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals with a groin injury which ended up costing Belgium as Spain scored off a big mistake by backup goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

In that context, Real Madrid will probably need Andriy Lunin to play some games this year, so the Ukrainian goalkeeper must stay ready to play and deliver quality performances.
