The Patriots left Gillette Stadium on Oct. 11 with a blowout win over the Raiders, but they also suffered a significant loss on their offensive line.
Starting left tackle Will Campbell suffered a right knee injury during the first half of New England’s Week 5 victory. Campbell, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, missed four games during his rookie season with a torn MCL in the same knee, causing concern among Pats fans.
Here is everything we know about Campbell’s injury and the latest news on when he may return to the field.
Will Campbell injury update
Campbell suffered a right knee injury when wide receiver Efton Chism III appeared to fall on Campbell’s leg at the end of a running play. Campbell was eventually able to walk off the field.

The Patriots initially listed Campbell as questionable, but they later ruled him out for the rest of the Week 5 game against the Raiders.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the injury is considered a “knee sprain based on the initial observation,” and the hope is that Campbell didn’t suffer a major injury.
How long is Will Campbell out?
Campbell is expected to undergo an MRI on Oct. 12 to confirm the severity of the injury. While New England has not yet shared a firm timeline, Campbell’s knee injury will “likely cause him to miss some time,” per Rapoport.
“It actually looks almost exactly the same as to what happened last time,” Rapoport said, referencing Campbell’s previous knee injury. “Remember, his performance was dramatically affected, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he missed some time now to get this thing fully healthy.”
