Could the Browns keep four quarterbacks on the roster for 2026?

The Cleveland Browns decided that veteran Deshaun Watson would be the starting quarterback for the 2026 NFL season, despite a rough training camp and preseason, even though Shedeur Sanders looked like the better quarterback overall. But with cuts about to take place around the NFL and initial 53-man rosters about to be set, the question is: will the team end up keeping all four quarterbacks on their roster?

It seems likely they’ll come to that conclusion, and it’s easy to see why for each guy. For Watson, he’s been named the starter, whether we agree with it or not, and his contract means he isn’t going anywhere this year, no matter what.

For Shedeur Sanders, he has shown flashes of a guy that can be a franchise quarterback, and if there is even a sliver of a chance, you can’t give up on that no matter how small. He still has some things to clean up, but he’s shown he’s made strides in areas he struggled with last year.

With Dillon Gabriel, he lacks the elite physical traits to be a long-term starter but has the intangibles and talent to be a solid backup quarterback who can keep a ship afloat if your starter misses a couple of games due to injury. And finally, you have Taylen Green, who is incredibly raw but showed in very limited preseason action that his traits are rare and that he is worth at least seeing how much he can improve.
