Cooper Pratt called up? The scene in Nashville sure looks like it

When Cooper Pratt was removed from the game at Class AAA Nashville and began giving hugs with a wide smile on his face, it didn’t take much to guess what had likely just taken place.

By the looks of the scene from Nashville, Pratt seems headed to Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect was taken out of the game after he grounded out to end the fifth inning June 14, an at-bat that coincided with the end of the big-league game in Milwaukee.

The Sounds dugout erupted in applause before lining up and giving an emotional Pratt hugs.

“It certainly looks like is finding out right now, live in the dugout in the middle of this game that he is going to the big leagues,” said Sounds broadcaster Jeff Hem as the camera showed the dugout scene.

Pratt’s call-up has been a while in the making.

Inked to an eight-year extension in April, Pratt is batting .241 with a .735 OPS at Nashville. The Brewers, meanwhile, have continued to get minimal production from the left side of the infield in totality but especially from Luis Rengifo, who is batting .205 with a .534 OPS after a 1 for 4 showing June 14.

It’s unclear what the Brewers’ move would be, and the team has yet to announce anything with Pratt. It’s worth noting June 15 is the first day that teams can trade players who signed a major-league deal in the off-season without explicit consent from the player, though in this scenario finding a club to take on Rengifo’s salary may prove difficult given his production.
