Stefon Diggs recently signed with the Washington Commanders after spending the previous season with the New England Patriots.
Despite coming off an ACL injury at 31 years old, Diggs racked up 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his first year under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. For years, McDaniels has been recognized as one of the all-time great offensive play-callers in the NFL.
Diggs can attest to that praise after spending one season with the offensive guru.
“I love their offense. McDaniels is a genius,” Diggs said on NFL Network. “I speak so highly of him. I love them over there. He taught me a lot about offense and how to get open. …Shout out to JM. For me, I just feel like where I am now and what I’ve learned, it’s going to help me in the future.”
The Patriots moved off Diggs’ contract back in March, ahead of free agency.
They reloaded at the wide receiver position by signing Romeo Doubs and trading for three-time All-Pro wideout A.J. Brown. The team also still has Kayshon Boutte, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III.
With that said, Diggs brought a swagger and confidence to a young Patriots team in 2025 that will never be forgotten. It ultimately helped them go from a 4-13 dead-in-the-water team to a Super Bowl contender with a 14-3 record.
The Diggs ride didn’t last long, but it was definitely worth it.
