'College GameDay' snubs Georgia's top home game of the year

ESPN’s “College GameDay” has announced that it will attend a fourth straight SEC game to start the 2026 college football season. Unfortunately for Georgia Bulldogs fans, GameDay isn’t heading to Athens, Georgia. Instead, GameDay is attending the No. 1 Texas Longhorns at No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers game.

GameDay opted for the Texas-Tennessee game over other top college football games including Oklahoma at Georgia, Texas A&M at LSU, Ole Miss at Florida, Oregon at USC, Iowa at Michigan and Missouri at Mississippi State.

Georgia fans were hoping the Bulldogs would get GameDay in Athens for the Oklahoma Sooners game, but the Sooners have already lost to Michigan and have struggled offensively. As a result, Georgia is two touchdown favorites over Oklahoma and the Georgia-Oklahoma game no longer is the expected to be the best college football game in Week 4.

Athens does not have many other prime weeks to host GameDay. The only other currently ranked team that is scheduled to play at Georgia is No. 21 Missouri. Georgia fans may have to wait another year until GameDay returns to Athens. The is a good chance GameDay will attend the Oct. 10 Georgia at Alabama game in a few weeks.
