Bayern Munich played Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League thrice last season, once in the group stage and twice in the semi-finals. Although Bayern got eliminated, Ismael Saibari knew which club he would rather play for.
“When Bayern played against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final, my agent asked me: ‘If one of the two clubs came for you now, trying to sign you, which one would you choose?’ – I immediately said Bayern,” Saibari said in an interview with Säbener 51 (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “The fact that I’m actually wearing the Bayern shirt now makes me very proud.”
This is a step in the right direction for Bayern because in a world where good players would rather sign for a club in England or Spain, Saibari’s story shows that the Bavarians is still an attractive club for the game’s best. The Moroccan himself played against Bayern when his previous club PSV Eindhoven met the Bavarians in the last league phase match of the 2025/26 Champions League campaign.
