Federico Chiesa has hinted that he could move away from Liverpool in the transfer window in order to get regular playing time.
Chiesa moved to Anfield in August 2024, but after an injury-hit first campaign at Liverpool, he has made just 50 appearances across all competitions since his move.
He struggled for regular minutes under Arne Slot in 2025-26, starting just five of his 36 appearances and playing for just 726 minutes.
Slot has left his post and been replaced by Andoni Iraola since the end of the campaign, with Chiesa set to have talks with his new manager before making a decision.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move back to Serie A, having left Juventus to join Liverpool, but he is not closing the door on any potential destinations.
“I want to play, and if I don’t find continuity in the Premier League, I’ll need to find it elsewhere,” Chiesa told Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by The Athletic.
“This season just gone, I got next to no minutes. I’ll go to the U.S. for pre-season, then I’ll talk to the club and Iraola, and we’ll see.
“I’ve honestly not played a lot since the start of 2026.
“I’ve got a great relationship with Liverpool. Back in January, the club and Slot said I couldn’t leave. They needed me. It was about numbers. We were in crisis.
“I understood the situation and stayed, keeping a smile on my face. We’re still talking about Liverpool. Last year they allowed me to win the Premier League.”
At Juventus, Chiesa won the Coppa Italia twice, as well as the Supercoppa Italiana, making 131 appearances across all competitions, first while on loan from Fiorentina before his permanent transfer ahead of 2022-23.
When asked directly about a return to Serie A, though Chiesa said he was “open to anything”, he added: “The important thing for me is game time.
“I am not presumptuous enough to say: I have to be a starter. I am ready to fight for my place anywhere.”
