Barcelona could consider cashing in on Jules Kounde if Chelsea present a substantial offer, resulting in opening the door for a change at right-back.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club feels it could generate considerably more from selling the French defender than it would need to spend on a replacement, making his future a financial as well as a sporting question.
On that note, Sporting CP’s Ivan Fresneda has emerged as one possible alternative, with sporting director Deco said to admire the 22-year-old.
Furthermore, Pedro Porro is another name in the conversation, giving Barcelona different options if they decide to reshape their defence.
What’s the story?
Kounde remains a versatile option for Hansi Flick, but his position is no longer beyond discussion.

The defender has acknowledged that he did not meet expectations last season and has also accepted his recent substitute role at Barcelona.
Chelsea’s interest could therefore become significant, particularly as Barcelona continue to operate under financial pressure.
A sizeable transfer fee would give the Catalan club greater room to strengthen other areas while searching for a more natural solution at right-back.
However, selling Kounde would carry risks, as his ability to cover multiple defensive positions has value, especially with Andreas Christensen dealing with another injury.
Eric Garcia has also impressed in different roles, but Barcelona may need him more regularly at centre-back.

Fresneda is an option with long-term potential. The former Real Madrid youth player developed at Real Valladolid before joining Sporting CP, and his profile has attracted Deco’s attention.
Porro, meanwhile, has also been linked with Barcelona and is viewed as a player capable of combining effectively with Lamine Yamal.
His overlapping runs and attacking instincts could offer the winger more support on the right flank.
For now, Kounde’s sale would make financial sense only if Barcelona could replace his defensive contribution without creating another weakness.
Hence, the club must weigh the potential transfer income against the cost of bringing in a new right-back and the Frenchman’s versatility.
