Champions League: Supercomputer predicts title winners this season

The Opta supercomputer has predicted Arsenal to win this season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners made it to the final of the competition last season, losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

The Premier League champions will open their Champions League campaign with an away match against Napoli on Wednesday.

According to GOAL, Opta ran 10,000 simulations for this season’s Champions League, with Mikel Arteta’s side emerging as favourites with a 21.2 per cent chance of winning the competition.

Arsenal are followed by Bayern Munich with a 19.9 per cent chance and Manchester City with 12 per cent.

Holders PSG are placed fourth, with a 7.7 per cent chance of retaining the trophy.

Next on Opta’s list are Barcelona, with a 7 per cent chance of winning the Champions League.
