Can Tiger Woods drive golf cart after losing license for 5 years?

Even a high ranking Florida official didn’t know if Tiger Woods could legally drive a golf cart after Woods was slapped with a five-year suspension of his driver’s license Wednesday.

The 15-time major golf champion pleaded guilty to reckless driving and refusing to submit to a lawful test following his March DUI arrest.

Initially, Florida’s 19th Judicial Circuit State Attorney Thomas Bakkedahl told reporters his team “will have to look into that.”

“You know what? You got me,” Bakkedahl said in response.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis then weighed in, writing, “Tiger should be able to drive a golf cart on the golf course,” in a post on X.

According to The Associated Press, Bakkedahl later said Woods is allowed to drive a golf cart in Florida, explaining that the law states that anyone over the age of 18 is permitted to be behind the wheel of a golf cart on public or private property.

“If I can send any message to Mr. Woods, it’s simply this: Of all the people in the world who should not get behind the wheel of a car, it’s the gentleman who is one of the most recognizable faces on the planet,” Bakkedahl said. “Somebody will see it whether it’s in Georgia or Nevada, New York or where have you. He’s not to drive a car.”

A representative with Martin County State Attorney Office told Golf Digest on Wednesday that Woods is still able to operate a golf cart on the course despite it not being a specified agreement of the plea.
