‘Bury you’ – Bam Adebayo warns NBA media trying to ‘scapegoat’ him amid Miami Heat’s 0-4 start

Despite landing one of the best players in the NBA during the offseason, the Heat have failed to look like the championship contenders many expected them to be this season.

The Heat are yet to win a game this season, and a huge factor behind their struggles has been the disappointing performances from Bam Adebayo.

Speaking to reporters after their loss to the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo tried to rationalise why things have been going poorly for him and the team.

Adebayo simply reduced their issues down to his shot not falling, before warning that those in the media trying to scapegoat him will have to credit him when they start winning games.

‘Bury you’ – Bam Adebayo warns

“For me, my shot’s not going in. I’m not going to overthink that. Funny how the outside noise wants to make me the scapegoat. But when the tables turn, the energy shifts, be prepared for that.”

Further into the press conference, when asked about his conversations with teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo about his struggles, Adebayo continued to take digs at the media instead.

“Nah, I mean the media is going to be the media. You know, they’re going to try to bury you when you’re down, but then it’s quiet when you’re up. So you know, you expect that from the media.”

While Adebayo is not solely to blame for how poorly the Miami Heat have started the season, he hasn’t exactly delivered the numbers that many expected him to.

So far this season, across four games, Adebayo has averaged just 11.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting a disappointing 40.0% from the field and an atrocious 16.7% from deep.

If the Heat want to turn their fortunes around and start winning games, Adebayo will have to start scoring more with much better efficiency.
