Bulldogs win golf sectional championship with 311
Adding to the trophy case for 2026, Batesville won the IHSAA golf sectional championship Friday at the Greensburg Country Club. The Bulldogs finished with a 311 to hold off Columbus North (316) for the title.
Shelbyville was third with 334. East Central finished fourth with 335 followed by Jac-Cen-Del 348, Columbus East 349, Greensburg 358, Hauser 360, Waldron 380, North Decatur 384, Southwestern (Shelby) 395, Milan 424, South Ripley 464 and South Decatur 466.
The top three teams and top three individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to Thursday’s regional at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville.
Batesville’s Ian Hixson earned sectional medalist honors with a 73 (+3).
Individuals advancing to the IHSAA regional include Hauser’s Bill Miller (75), Waldron’s Blake Bryant (79) and Greensburg’s Logan Simpson (81).
Following Hixson for Batesville was Jon Moody 75 (second overall), Landon Raver 78, Cooper Phebus 85 and Caleb Laker 87.
Other scores for the Pirates included Reece Chapman 88, Luke Schwering 93, Logan Fisse 96 and Landon Huff 98.
North Decatur was led by Aiden Luttel with 87. Kobe Hoeing was next for the Chargers with 96 followed by Scott Morford 97, Micah Smith 104 and Owen Arnold 109.
Tayedin Traylor led South Decatur with a 103. Aiden Hunter finished with 107 followed by Miles Wall 119, Grant Ogle 127 and Nick Hunter 128.
