Arsenal‘s first title defence in over two decades is off to a flyer at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are cruising against Premier League returnee Coventry.
On the back of a resounding Community Shield triumph against title rival and Guardiola-bereft Manchester City, two goals inside the opening 25 minutes of action in North London have kept to script tonight.
Kai Havertz netted the opener for the home side, with new boy Christos Tzolis involved in the move before the German was picked out by Riccardo Calafiori before dispatching a tidy finish into the bottom corner.
Then it was Bukayo Saka‘s turn to get in on the action, clinically slotting home into an empty net to double the lead.
With that, Saka (61) officially eclipsed Arsenal cult hero Alexís Sanchez (60) for total Premier League goals for the club.
With Frank Lampard‘s Sky Blues suffering two body blows across the opening 45 minutes of the 2026/27 season against a rampant Arsenal, thus far, it’s hard to bet against Arteta’s outfit from retaining their Premier League crown on current evidence.
