Stop it. Just stop it.

There’s been a suggestion that Bronny James should retire from the NBA after his dad LeBron has left the Los Angeles Lakers.

It’s absurd. Ridiculous. Dumb.

Mostly, it’s just bad advice.

First, the quote from Fox Sports’ Rob Parker:

“Bronny James should retire. I would retire… Bronny should retire… Because here’s the thing. The worst part now is the jig is up, and then they’ll pull the plug on him and just give him the money to go away. Your dad is not here anymore. That’s the reason you were here. And that was a nice gesture for LeBron… We’ll pick up his contract so that he’ll have some money… But come on. What did Bronny James do to deserve any of that? I’m sorry. I’m not buying it.”

If Parker was looking for engagement and attention, he got it.

But if he was trying to sound rational about Bronny’s career, he didn’t.

Sure, Bronny probably got drafted simply because LeBron already was on the Lakers, but that hasn’t stopped the youngster from getting better.

Don’t forget — his only season at USC was entirely disjointed because of his cardiac troubles.

As a rookie, he did have some struggles at the NBA level, but he was a strong playmaker at both ends of the floor in the G League.

Bronny improved pretty much across the board in his second season, particularly as an outside shooter — which could prove to be his swing skill for sticking around the NBA.

Now, the Lakers have fully guaranteed Bronny’s contract for the 2026-27 season. Clearly, they’re still interested in his development.

Clearly, retirement doesn’t make any sense. It’s silly to even bring it up, because a take like that isn’t even worth the engagement it brings.
