The NFL has fined Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton $23,882 for unnecessary roughness after hitting Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold in the Broncos‘ 17-14 overtime win on Thursday Night Football in Week 6, according to the Denver Post‘s Parker Gabriel.
The hit occurred late in the last minute of the fourth quarter, on the same play that Denver pass rusher Jonah Elliss was injured on. Darnold was also shaken up on the play.
The Seahawks tied up the game at 14 at the end of regulation, before the Denver defense forced a Darnold interception in overtime, which led to the game-winning kick.
You can see the hit from Singleton on Darnold, which drew the fine below.

In the same game, Seahawks safety Ty Okada was fined a total of $12,722 for two separate infractions in the Week 6 showdown, according to the Denver Gazette‘s Chris Tomasson. Okada incurred identical $6,361 fines, one for tripping, and another for improper use of the helmet.
Singleton has been fined three times this season, but he had his $17,911 fine for hitting a defenseless receiver in Week 2 rescinded after an appeal and review.
Elsewhere on the fine front, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz had their $14,926 fines for a dice roll celebration dismissed after appeal, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.
Meinerz is also appealing his approximately $15,000 fine for sharing a photo of his drug test notification on social media. There’s been no word yet on if the NFL will overturn that fine.
The NFL’s website says the league donates fines “to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.”
