Controversial TV host Piers Morgan has weighed in on Enes Kanter Freedom’s announcement that he intends to join the WNBA.

As the debate over WNBA eligibility rules rages on, Kanter said he met every single requirement necessary to compete in the league and would declare for the 2027 draft.

Morgan tweeted his thoughts about Kanter potentially joining the WNBA.

“Brilliant… now let’s see how keen the WNBA stars are for men to play in their League,” Morgan wrote on X.

“Brilliant”: Piers Morgan Reacts Publicly as

Morgan previously debated with tennis legend Martina Navratilova about trans athletes competing in women’s sports.

“I was just sad. Sophie (Cunningham) just spoke the truth. She was not singling out trans athletes. She was only talking about male bodies in women’s sports, which clearly is not a fair fight,” Navratilova said on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” after Sophie Cunningham called for trans athletes to be barred from women’s sports.

“What I find really sad is, she’s been vilified for that and called all kinds of names, as I have been as well. But, most of all, the league is not supporting this. The league is not silent [and] they should be forging forward, just like the WTA has.”

Another Male Athlete Announces Intention to Join the WNBA

After Enes Kanter Freedom, former NBA player Royce White also announced his intention to enter the 2027 WNBA draft.

“I’m transgender. I’m a woman. I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purpose of basketball, professional basketball, so I’ll be declaring for the WNBA draft in 2027 as well,” White told FOX News.

“I think I’d be unstoppable. But I’m a team-first guy. I’m a pass-first kind of player. I do the little things. I led my team in all five major stat categories at Iowa State University, so I do a little bit of everything. I’ll do whatever the coach needs me to do. I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do.”

Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams said in May that she would be open to teaming up with or competing against a trans player in the WNBA. After Sophie Cunningham’s comments, Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve wore a “Trans kids belong” shirt when her team faced the Indiana Fever last week.
