Brighton have announced the arrival of highly-rated striker Valentin Joseph, with the 18-year-old joining the Seagulls from Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Joseph has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Fabian Hurzeler’s side, and will be a part of Brighton’s under-21 squad for the upcoming campaign.
Blackburn had reportedly offered the academy graduate, who was the top-scorer in the FA Youth Cup last season, his first professional contract.
However, with interest from several Premier League clubs, Joseph decided against signing and made the move to Brighton, which was officially announced on Saturday.
Joseph enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, scoring nine goals in Rovers’ run to the FA Youth Cup semi-final, where they were beaten by Manchester City.
“After 5 years, the time has come for me to say goodbye,” Joseph said in a farewell to Blackbrun on social media.
“I’ve grown as a player, as a team-mate, and as a person, and I couldn’t be more grateful for everything this club has done for me.
We are pleased to confirm the signing of Valentin Joseph from Blackburn Rovers for undisclosed terms.
The 18-year-old striker has joined on a three-year deal and will be part of our MU21s squad.

“To every manager, coach, physio, analyst, and member of staff, thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and helping me improve every single day.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The passion, loyalty, and incredible support have never gone unnoticed.
“I am proud to have been part of the Blackburn Rovers family for the last five years.”
