I just don’t know how Brian Cashman can look at his current roster and believe the New York Yankees have a great chance of winning a World Series if they don’t make the necessary moves at the trade deadline to improve both sides of the baseball.
The Yankees are still a very good team, and I don’t think it’s crazy to say they can win a World Series, but they need health on their side, and at the moment, they aren’t necessarily getting that.
The Yankees have to feel like they can win it all if they do what’s needed, but it doesn’t sound like Brian Cashman is going to do so at the moment. Certainly taking his fair share of heat, he made a ridiculous comment when recently speaking about Aaron Judge and his injury.
Judge, undoubtedly the best hitter in Major League Baseball, is a massive miss for New York. However, with Cashman now saying that he doesn’t think that’s going to impact the trade deadline, it leaves more questions than answers.
“If we expect him back, which we do, then I don’t see why that would impact something for the deadline,” Cashman said, via Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.
“We’ve just got to hold the fort, hold that spot nice and warm for him when he returns.”
For Cashman to say that he doesn’t think this will impact the trade deadline is a rather scary sight for Yankees fans.
Perhaps this is just him not trying to show his hand, but until Cashman makes a move, I’m personally worried he won’t.
