Breaking Billions: Bayern Munich social media channels on the rise

Bayern Munich are consistently among the top five clubs in world football. That feat comes down to pure footballing merit, competing on the world’s largest stages, and winning. But in terms of global reach, support, and viewership, Bayern have always been chasing Real Madrid, Barcelona, and the Premier League giants. However, it looks like that is slowly changing.

Bayern’s recent revival and extremely successful 2025/26 campaign seems to be reflected in their social media numbers as well (via @iMiaSanMia).

Bayern’s social media channels recorded over 1.1 billion interactions and 15 billion video views in 2025/26, whilst the community grew by around ten per cent to more than 220 million followers across all platforms. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook were the main drivers of this growth

In international benchmarking, this moved FC Bayern up from 8th to 5th place – placing them ahead of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. April was the strongest month on social media in the club’s history, with the semi-final second leg against Real Madrid setting an all-time record for a single day.

Bayern’s owned media channels (website and app) also also saw significant growth: visits rose by 17% in the 2025/26 season compared with the previous one

It’s always difficult to pinpoint why the numbers increase like this. Perhaps more people simply have access to social media? Perhaps social media platforms keep growing in and of themselves? Both highly likely, but what Vincent Kompany has done for Bayern cannot be ignored.

The Belgian manager has not only turned Die Rekordmeister back into one of Europe’s most feared sides, but has also made Bayern an extremely likeable team.
