Brandt Snedeker has just done Luke Donald’s team-talk for him ahead of the Ryder Cup in 2027

Brandt Snedeker’s US team prevailed against the International team at the Presidents Cup in the end, but only after a sensational comeback in the Sunday singles.

Some may say the US team won in spite of Snedeker’s captaincy, not because of it, and that would be a fair argument to make.

The 46-year-old’s decision to stick with the Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns pairing throughout the week, in spite of their poor showings, raised some eyebrows.

Meanwhile, the fact that Brandt Snedeker didn’t use Chris Gotterup and Cam Young as a pair until day three of the Presidents Cup was utterly bizarre.

In fairness to him, Snedeker admitted that he made mistakes as Presidents Cup captain, but that should not deflect from the fact that he made so many glaring errors.

And to make matters worse, he has just made the US team’s task of winning the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor even more difficult.

When speaking to reporters after the United States turned things around on Sunday at the Presidents Cup, Snedeker warned the Europeans that the American team will ‘be a problem’ at Adare Manor.

“It doesn’t mean anything for me, it means more for USA golf,” he said.

“I think we’re all tired of this narrative that we don’t care about each other, that we don’t know how to play team golf. I think this proves it.

“You don’t come back the way we did if these guys haven’t all bought into each other. This team is going to be a problem in Ireland. It’s going to be a problem.”

That is quite possibly the worst thing he could have said ahead of the Ryder Cup in Ireland next year.

Talk about poking the bear! The last thing the Americans need to do is give the incredibly strong European team any added motivation.

However, he’s not the first American to fall into that trap.

Brandt Snedeker has made the same mistake that Keegan Bradley made

There were many flaws in Bradley’s Ryder Cup captaincy at Bethpage Black last year.

His refusal to rely on what the data was telling him when it came to his foursomes and four-ball pairing selections was baffling.

Bradley’s deluded belief that the Americans’ defeat was simply due to the Europeans putting better was also very jarring for US fans to hear.

However, one of his biggest mistakes was firing up Team Europe before the event had even begun.

During a private speech to his American players, which was later shown on the Full Swing documentary on Netflix, Bradley exclaimed: “We are going to go to Bethpage to kick their f–––––– a––.“

Luke Donald had that exact quote plastered around the European team room and the Englishman’s pre-Ryder Cup team-talk was immediately done for him.

And now Brandt Snedeker has just done exactly the same thing ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
