Writing a high fantasy series dedicated to learning about metals and their properties, and yet managing to make it thrilling, is no easy task, but Brandon Sanderson definitely managed it when The Final Empire was published back in 2006. Marking the first book in what would be known as the Mistborn series, the author went on to release four eras of books set in the same universe, and with the eighth book in the series set to publish soon, its fanbase are eager to see where Sanderson takes them next.
From the early computer age to exploring the space-opera genre, the Mistborn saga has covered it all, and as such, the series, which is part of the wider Cosmere universe, has gone on to inspire other media, such as tabletop gaming.

The Cosmere Roleplaying Game was released back in 2024 and is based on the Cosmere fictional universe created by American author Brandon Sanderson. Developed by Brotherwise Games, it was part of a successful crowdfunding campaign which saw it raise a total of $14.7 million, becoming the most-funded TTRPG on Kickstarter.
However, it was only in September 2026 that the Mistborn saga was immortalized in The Cosmere Roleplaying Game, and now, players can learn all there is to know about one of Sanderson’s most successful series with the release of these sourcebooks.
Set to be released in Fall 2026, the Mistborn Sourcebooks and Accessories feature three core hardcover books based on the book series. As the official item description reads, “The Mistborn Handbook and Mistborn World Guide provide lore and rules for Mistborn Era 1 and Era 2, allowing you to build a campaign in either setting. The Mistborn Legacy adventure explores both settings with a story that unfolds over generations!”
As such, even if you are not familiar with the Mistborn universe, you will be able to get up to speed before diving into its dedicated campaign as part of The Cosmere Roleplaying Game. As for the Mistborn campaign itself, it offers eveything that fans of the book series could want, taking place in a world where Allomancers burn metal in order to consume and wield its powers.
