Brad Galli brings his sports news to your phone in new venture

After recently brad-galli-232412829.html">leaving his storied tenure at WXYZ-TV, sportscaster Brad Galli has launched an independent venture.

The Metro Detroit native announced Monday morning he is starring in “The Brad Galli Show,” where he will bring “exclusive interviews, original reporting, behind-the-scenes access, and compelling sports storytelling directly to fans across digital platforms,” according to a news release.

The show can be viewed across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok.

“I am excited to take fans closer to the action, consistently providing content that gets people up close with their favorite players, coaches, and prominent figures in the state of Michigan and beyond,” Galli said. “We’re going to be meeting fans on digital media platforms that allows us to provide a greater opportunity to deliver more access, more conversations, and more storytelling than ever before.”

Known for his sit-down interviews, Galli’s first three episodes of his new show feature conversations with Detroit Lions running backs Barry Sanders and Jahmyr Gibbs, University of Michigan head basketball coach Dusty May as well as Tigers greats Alan Trammel and Lou Whitaker.

The show is also slated to include breaking news updates, game coverage, local sports commentary and feature stories, according to the press release announcing its debut.

“Whether you’re a lifelong sports fanatic or simply looking to stay informed, the platform offers credible reporting, genuine conversations, and insider perspectives that connect audiences to the sports world in a meaningful way,” the release said.

Galli’s Monday announcement comes one month after his final broadcast at WXYZ, where he was a three-time Michigan Sportscaster of the Year and the two-time Best Sportscaster Winner from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters over a 15-year span.

He joined the station full-time when he was 21 in 2011 and rose to become sports anchor then eventually sports director.

His final segment was the 6 p.m. newscast May 1, after he previewed the Pistons-Magic in Game 6 of their playoff series.

“The fact you choose to watch us nightly, that’s why being the sports guy on 7 has been a badge of honor,” Galli said before signing off.
