Bournemouth confirm successful foot surgery for in-demand Kroupi

Bournemouth have confirmed that in-demand forward Junior Kroupi has undergone successful surgery to repair a foot injury sustained in pre-season.

Kroupi, who has been touted for a summer transfer after impressing during his first season at Bournemouth, is reported to be out of action for up to three months.

The news provides a bitter blow for Marco Rose’s side, who begin their Premier League campaign away to Manchester City on August 23.

During his debut campaign at the Vitality Stadium, Kroupi registered 13 goals across 35 appearances in all competitions.

Kroupi (13) broke the record for the most Premier League goals scored by a teenager in their debut season, surpassing Robbie Fowler in 1993-94 and Robbie Keane in 1999-00 (both 12).

His impressive displays had seen him linked with a move to both Arsenal and Tottenham this summer, though it looks increasingly likely that he will now remain at Bournemouth.

“Bournemouth can confirm that Junior Kroupi has undergone successful surgery after sustaining a foot injury during a pre-season training session in Austria,” a statement said.

“The 20-year-old returned to the UK earlier this week to undergo the procedure and will consequently face a spell on the sidelines.

“Junior will now be supported by the club’s medical and performance staff as he begins a period of rehabilitation.

“Everyone at Bournemouth extends their best wishes to Junior and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch.”

Kroupi was integral in Bournemouth’s campaign in 2025-26, helping the Cherries secure European football for the first time in their history under former boss Andoni Iraola.

They finished sixth, their highest ever placing in the top flight of English football, while also rounding out the season with an 18-game unbeaten run (W8 10).

Kroupi is not only attracting interest from the Premier League, with reports also emerging that Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are keen on a move for the teenager.

Bournemouth have reiterated that Kroupi is not for sale, alongside the likes of Alex Scott and Rayan, who also enjoyed impressive campaigns last season.

The Cherries do have cover to fill the gap left by Kroupi, though, having signed Alvaro Rodriguez from LaLiga side Elche earlier in the transfer window.
