One thing is clear — Max Eberl wants to keep his job as board member for sport at Bayern Munich.
That might be easier said than done, though, as Eberl is clearly on the host season. According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Julian Agardi and Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), Eberl made an impassioned plea for why he deserves to keep his job back in February, which included a breakdown of how his big acquisitions were superior to their predecessors.
During the supervisory board meeting on February 23, Max Eberl campaigned vigorously for himself and presented arguments that would speak for a contract extension. Eberl focused his presentation on the top transfers he had made, Luis Díaz and Michael Olise. He presented the supervisory board members with a detailed comparison between the Díaz/Olise duo and the previous wing pairing of Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané. Eberl demonstrated just how much more effective Díaz and Olise were compared to Coman and Sané, both in terms of numbers and injury record.

That should have helped Eberl’s case, right? Well, the executive’s work is not done if he wants to keep his job. To stay at Bayern Munich, Eberl needs to make five sales this summer — and at least one of them will be very difficult:
The supervisory board has given Eberl an ultimatum until the end of August. He’s tasked with getting loan players like Alexander Nübel, João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza off the payroll. Furthermore, he needs to find new clubs for Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Itō. The final decision will be made at the next supervisory board meeting at the end of August.

If true, you have to wonder how long Eberl wants to operate like this. Not only does he have to hit on just about all of his moves, but he has to clean up the mess from years past as well. With the exception of Itō, every other players was brought in by someone else. In addition, Kim Min-jae is reportedly content to stay in Bavaria without much desire to move per reports.
Life is not fair — and surely, Eberl is living a pretty glorious existence for the most part, but this does seem a difficult way to work.
