Harry Kane‘s extension is the priority for the club at the moment since his contract expires in the summer. Signing the best striker in the game right now also adds leverage while discussing the Bayern project with Olise. The established chemistry. the accolades gathered and the sheer appetite to rinse and repeat UCL winning runs is always a tempting prospect for any player.
Having said all of that, Bayern had to publicly show their hand. When the rumor mill kept churning out “news” that Olise will be leaving to Real Madrid, Liverpool, etc., Bayern had to take a stand on their player and set boundaries regarding their talent. Now, the ideal move after the public drama is to extend him at the earliest possible. Allowing a whole season to get by is a double edged sword. It signals confidence in the club’s project but, it also allows room for him to take a look at what else might be out there for him.
