The World Cup is in full swing and despite the large Barcelona contingent in the Spanish national team, it is fair to say that they haven’t made the desired impact in the tournament so far. Real Madrid players, in contrast, have done well.
One of the players who has been unable to make the biggest impact is Dani Olmo. The Barcelona playmaker has played a secondary role so far and has yet to score a goal.
However, in the lead-up to Spain’s important game against Portugal, Olmo has talked about Real Madrid, criticising the team for trying to destabilise Barcelona.

Speaking to RAC1 (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Olmo framed Real Madrid’s ongoing focus on the Negreira case as an attempt to disrupt a Barcelona side that has dominated the domestic scene over the past two seasons.
“It’s normal that they want to make noise somehow. We’ve had two years with many titles, dominating in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa,” said Olmo.
“It’s normal that they want to destabilise things, but we are focused on our own game and on continuing to win,” he added.
The midfielder also acknowledged that Real Madrid, who endured two trophyless seasons, will be looking to bounce back, but insisted Barcelona are equally determined to keep improving.
“They are looking to improve, but we also improve every year,” he added.

Olmo’s comments come at a time when the relationship between Real Madrid and Barcelona is at an all-time low.
The Merengues have launched an all-out war against their bitter rivals, taking the Negreira case issue to UEFA by submitting a detailed dossier of what they believe is preferential treatment from referees towards Barcelona.
Florentino Perez has time and again addressed the issue calling it the biggest scandal in the history of football.
Barcelona, on their part, have refused to remain quiet, opening legal proceedings against the Real Madrid president for his comments.
