Barcelona set to leave the Camp Nou again

La Liga champions Barcelona have put in place plans to depart the club’s beloved Spotify Camp Nou ground for the latest time next year.

These plans were recently made public by Blaugrana treasurer and economic vice-president Ferran Olive.

Barcelona are of course not long back at the Camp Nou. After initially closing their stadium for long overdue renovations in the summer of 2023, the Catalans pencilled in a return date late in 2024.

This comeback was ultimately pushed all the way to November of last year, however, as a result of a string of unforeseen delays.

And as alluded to above, in the not-so-distant future, all of a Barca persuasion will be forced to bid temporary farewell to the Camp Nou once again. As per a report from The Athletic:

‘To fit the roof and finish the stadium completely, the team will need to leave. Design plans mean the roof has to be built from inside the stadium, requiring building materials to be stationed where the Camp Nou pitch is.’

For this reason, Ferran Olive has announced plans for Hansi Flick and his squad to leave their ground behind for the first half of next season, with a view to returning in January of 2028.
