Barcelona refuse to panic after Real Madrid’s blockbuster move for top target

Barcelona are not changing their plans for Julian Alvarez despite Real Madrid’s recent attempt to sign the Atletico Madrid forward. 

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants remain fully focused on their pursuit of the Argentine and do not view their rivals’ intervention as a serious threat to their chances of landing the striker.

The development comes after Real Madrid submitted a sensational €150 million proposal for Alvarez, only for Atletico Madrid to reject the approach immediately. 

While the move generated headlines across Spain, Barcelona’s hierarchy is understood to be calm about the situation and is focused on their own strategy.

Barcelona committed to Alvarez’s pursuit

According to the report, Barcelona had anticipated the possibility of Real Madrid entering the race for Alvarez.

However, the club’s leadership believes the move was designed more to complicate negotiations than to genuinely secure the player’s signature.

Barcelona have already submitted an offer worth €100 million and are still waiting for Atletico Madrid’s response. 

Club officials are aware that negotiations could take time, but there is no sense of panic within the Camp Nou offices.

Importantly, Barcelona are not planning to abandon their financial strategy in pursuit of a new striker as well. 

While Alvarez is highly valued within the club, the club is determined not to exceed their limits or compromise broader transfer plans for a single signing.

One factor that continues to encourage Barcelona is the player’s stance. 

The club is convinced that Alvarez is open to a new challenge, and there is confidence that the sporting project being built under Hansi Flick could prove attractive to the Argentine international. 

For that reason, Real Madrid’s failed €150 million approach has not altered Barcelona’s roadmap. 

Club officials believe the battle for Alvarez will ultimately be decided by negotiations with Atletico Madrid and the player’s preferences rather than by outside noise.
