Barcelona midfield gem wants to stay put amid interest from Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal

According to SPORT, despite the growing interest from the Premier League, Marc Bernal has made it clear that he wants to stay at FC Barcelona.

The midfielder considers the club his home and remains grateful to Hansi Flick and the coaching staff for placing their faith in him, particularly after his lengthy recovery from injury.

Premier League heavyweights want Bernal

As reported earlier today, several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, are monitoring Bernal.

In fact, the Cityzens, who are overseeing a revamp of their midfield unit, have even gone as far as making an enquiry for the 19-year-old La Masia graduate.

As part of that rebuild, City want to recruit two elite young midfielders capable of combining physical presence with technical quality.

Bernal is among the club’s preferred targets, alongside Ayyoub Bouaddi (Lille) and Aleksandar Pavlovic (Bayern Munich).

City have already made preliminary enquiries about Bernal’s availability, although any deal currently appears extremely unlikely.

Along with Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea are also keen on the youngster. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid are also reported to be among the clubs tracking the highly-rated midfielder.

Barcelona do not want to sell, Bernal does not wish to leave

Indeed, as mentioned previously, Bernal has no intention of leaving Barcelona anytime soon and wants to stay put at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, the Blaugrana themselves have no intention of selling their academy graduate, even more so after Frenkie de Jong’s injury which will sideline him for a prolonged period.

Within the club, the teenage midfielder is increasingly viewed as an untouchable asset alongside players such as Pedri, Joan Garcia and Lamine Yamal.

Bernal signed a new contract with Barcelona until 2029, which includes a €500 million release clause, giving the club complete control over his future.

In fact, talks are likely to accelerate over improved terms for the youngster, considering that he remains on low wages despite his growth in prominence within the senior setup.

As far as the player is concerned, his priority is to continue at Barcelona and reach an agreement on a new contract that reflects his growing importance within the squad.
