Armed robbers raid TSU students’ residences in Jalingo

Suspected armed robbers have reportedly raided several residences occupied by students of Taraba State University (TSU) in the ATC area of Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred between 1am and 3am on Monday, September 21, 2026, when the assailants allegedly moved from one student residence to another, dispossessing victims of phones, laptops, power banks and other valuables.

The attack, as observed by DAILY POST, occurred a few days after armed robbers attacked the hostels of the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Jalingo.

The affected residences, as gathered by our reporter, included Dior Compound, Strawers Villa, Mumbai Compound and 3 Brothers Villa.

A source from the university community, who identified himself as Abel Muda, said several other student residences along the Alaba to Agric Gate axis were also attacked during the operation.

Some students who spoke with DAILY POST said the suspected robbers allegedly broke doors and windows to gain access to some of the residences before taking away students’ belongings.

Some students were also said to have fled into nearby bushes for safety during the attack, allegedly due to the number of suspected robbers involved.

Although no injuries had been confirmed as of the time of filing this report, the affected students were said to have suffered material losses and psychological distress.

The students called on TSU management, ATC community leaders, the Taraba State Police Command and other security agencies to strengthen night patrols and security around student residences.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the police or the university management confirming the attack.
