The Arizona Cardinals open mandatory minicamp on Monday. All players must attend or be subject to fines of up to more than $100,000 for the three days. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who did not participate in any of the voluntary part of the offseason program, will be there.
Multiple reports say that he will show up. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Josh Weinfuss were the first. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted that Brissett is doing so to avoid being fined.
It is uncertain whether he will participate in on-field activities.
He is the presumed starter for the Cardinals in 2026 and wants a new contract. He is due $4.9 million in salary with $1.5 million of it guaranteed. He would be the league’s lowest-paid starter. He set career-highs in passing yards and passing touchdowns, and tight end Trey McBride and receiver Michael Wilson had career seasons with Brissett throwing to them for most the season. However, the Cardinals went 1-11 in his 12 starts and lost the final nine games of the season, six of them by three or more scores, after he was given the job outright.
Free agent addition Gardner Minshew has been running the first-team offense in the offseason.
After three days of minicamp, the Cardinals will be off until they report for training camp sometime in July.
