Arijon Ibrahimović explains move from Bayern Munich to FC Augsburg
Arijon Ibrahimović will be looking to recapture his momentum. After poor loans to Italian clubs Salernitana and SS Lazio in which he barely played, the Bayern Munich academy graduate finally found regular playing time at the third time of asking when he went to FC Heidenheim. Despite getting relegated with the club, he played a promising enough Bundesliga season that Bayern wished to bring him back and see throughout preseason if he could contribute to the squad.
Unfortunately, Bayern’s decision makers determined he could not.
So it was crucial Ibrahimović would get more game time. His development had stalled long enough at Salernitana and Lazio and a season of rotting on the bench at Bayern would have been further damage to his career. So the deadline day loan to FC Augsburg was an important one for the 20-year-old.
“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge in Augsburg because FCA are an ambitious Bundesliga club,” Ibrahimović explained, as captured by Augsburg’s official website. “I also want to keep developing and play regularly. My aim now is to settle into the team as quickly as possible and contribute to a successful season.”
Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber also added his two cents: “His strength and determination in particular suit us and the way we want to play. At the same time, we believe there is still plenty more to come from him. We’re convinced that he can help the team straight away while also continuing to develop here.”
Ibrahimović started in the attack for FC Augsburg as it battered Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1 this weekend. The youngster was credited with a goal by some services, while others considered it to be an own goal.
