Apple TV’s Stephen King-Approved Mystery Thriller Roars Back To Life On Streaming

Apple TV‘s mystery thriller approved by Stephen King is roaring back to life on streaming, just two weeks after its riveting finale. Apple TV is home to a number of mystery TV shows, all of which provide plenty of intrigue across the board. From the genre-bending investigations of Sugar to the police thriller vibes of Criminal Record, the streaming service is no stranger to delivering engaging mysteries in a wide array of presentations. Such is the case with one series that’s seeing a major resurgence in popularity.

That show is Last Seen, an Australian miniseries based on the novel The Dispatcher by Ryan David Jahn. The show follows Ian Ridley (Patrick Brimmall), a former police officer and current emergency dispatcher, who learns about the discovery of a body believed to be his daughter’s, following her disappearance 11 years earlier. However, after receiving a call from a panicked young girl claiming to be his missing child, he spirals into an investigation that changes his life for good. Reviews for Last Seen have been positive, the show even earning praise from horror writer Stephen King.

Now, Last Seen has returned as an Apple TV hit, following the series finale, which aired only two weeks ago. According to data from October 23, 2026, the series has become the Number 10 show on Apple TV in the United States. This marks a return to form for the show’s popularity, having previously charted while episodes were airing weekly. Now, despite having been over for a couple of weeks, the show is sitting right alongside other Top 10 hits like Your Friends & Neighbors and Shrinking.

There’s plenty that makes Last Seen one of Apple TV’s more unique originals. For one, the six-episode show has a proper conclusion, its miniseries approach ensuring the core plot doesn’t get stretched out for too long. It also sets the stage for a multi-layered mystery by, at one point, pulling focus away from Ian and onto another set of characters. There’s a multifaceted machine of elements coalescing across the series, with the tension eventually building to an unstoppable boiling point.

The Mystery Thriller Has Flown Under Many Viewers’ Radars

Unfortunately, Last Seen hasn’t been extremely popular across its run, making it one of Apple TV’s most underseen shows of 2026. However, the series is engaging, as evidenced by both King’s praise and its Certified Fresh 88% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. The show is a perfect mystery series for those compelled by the genre, but who want to see something fresh and original too. It also helps the series has a definitive ending, giving prospective viewers knowledge there will be an endpoint.

The show’s current streaming chart placement means viewers are starting to find it, though, which means the series could be on a path to gaining the recognition it deserves. But, for that to happen, Last Seen will need to not only maintain its popularity, but surpass where it currently is. As the show continues to perform well beyond its original release, it might just prove itself a core part of Apple TV’s shows in the weeks to come.
