IF ANGEL REESE IS ALREADY A SUPERSTAR, WHY DOES EVERY CRITICISM TURN INTO AN EXCUSE?
This is where the Angel Reese debate gets interesting.
When Reese dominates the glass, her fans point to the numbers. When she puts together a huge scoring performance, they celebrate her potential. When she struggles, the conversation often shifts to her teammates, the opposing defense or people supposedly rooting against her.
So which is it?
Reese deserves credit for helping Atlanta reach the WNBA Finals. Her 30-point, 16-rebound performance in Game 2 showed exactly how dangerous she can be.
But Monday night was a different story.
She scored seven points as the Dream lost 64-55 to Golden State. Atlanta now faces elimination, and the pressure is only getting bigger.
Nobody expects one player to win a championship alone. The Dream have plenty of questions to answer, and their overall offensive production has been a problem.
Still, being a star means accepting scrutiny when things go wrong. You cannot demand superstar recognition while treating every tough question like a personal attack.
And this isn’t about whether Reese is popular or polarizing. It’s about whether her basketball performances deserve the same honest evaluation as everyone else’s.
HERE’S THE QUESTION THAT WILL MAKE BOTH SIDES MAD:
If Angel Reese played for a team you didn’t care about, would you rate her basketball game exactly the same way?
If your answer is yes, explain why. If your answer is no, explain that, too.
Let’s see who can actually separate basketball from fandom. 👇
