Analyst says what was ‘insanely pathetic’ about Enes Kanter’s ejection at Fever vs Sky WNBA game

Pablo Torre has offered a blunt verdict on Enes Kanter Freedom’s ejection from the Fever-Sky game. The analyst did not hold back.

Kanter Freedom was removed from the courtside area at Wintrust Arena after a heated exchange with Chicago‘s Natasha Cloud. He was wearing a shirt reading ‘WOMAN noun. Adult human female.’

The Indiana Fever went on to beat the Sky 113-90, with Caitlin Clark starring.

Reacting to footage of the incident, Torre wrote on social media:

‘I think we can all agree that stepping out toward the baseline in the middle of a WNBA game, getting ejected on purpose, and immediately claiming to be a victim is insanely pathetic.’

The stand-up came during a timeout. Cloud was pointing and shouting at Kanter Freedom as he sat courtside, before he rose with his arms outstretched and took a step towards the court.

Security and several Sky players stepped in, and the former Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics centre was escorted out. He later posted: ‘I just got kicked out of a WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA!’

Cloud responded on Threads after the game.

‘To every trans kid/person, you are part of MY community & tribe. You belong. You’re loved. You’re seen. You’re perfect as you are & you will always be protected by me,’ she wrote.

The incident comes weeks after Kanter Freedom declared himself eligible for next season’s WNBA draft as a transgender woman, citing what he called the league’s lack of eligibility guidelines.

The debate around transgender athletes continues to shadow the league. Clark gave it short shrift after the win.

‘To be honest, I didn’t see it. We were talking about it the next play in our huddle, so I think that’s probably a question for Chicago,’ she said.

Fever coach Stephanie White echoed that, asking the media not to ‘give it any gas’.

Even Chicago’s own bench was keen to move on. Sky coach Tyler Marsh reminded everyone what the night should have been about.

‘There’s so many good things about this league and so many good things about the play of these players, that if you come to a game, you should probably come to enjoy the basketball,’ he said.

Instead, one courtside stunt claimed the headlines. For Torre, the message was simple, and it was not a flattering one.
