Alex Fitzpatrick names the only PGA Tour player he’s been seriously impressed by since earning his card

Alex Fitzpatrick has named the one PGA Tour player who has managed to seriously impress him when they have played together since he earned his card earlier this year.

Fitzpatrick has flown out of the blocks since being given the chance to play on the PGA Tour permanently. The 27-year-old, of course, won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside his brother back in April.

There was some criticism of the fact that the Englishman would be able to play in signature events following the victory. However, Fitzpatrick has silenced those doubters with his form since.

He is currently 20th in the FedEx Cup standings having registered three more top 10 finishes since winning at TPC Louisiana.

All of those subsequent top 10s have come in signature events. Most recently, Fitzpatrick finished in a tie for sixth at the Memorial Tournament this past week. So he has already played alongside a number of big names.

But when asked on Subpar about which playing partners stood out to him, Fitzpatrick suggested that there is just one name who has left a lasting impression.

“I would say, I feel like because I’ve been around these guys for so long, I felt like I knew everyone’s game. The person that really stood out, even though I’d played with him before, but Adam Scott, I played with on maybe Saturday of Miami and I was like, wow, it was so impressive,” he said.

“Just hit it a long way, his irons were close, putted well. I mean, he shot eight under, which was like a course record. So it’s going to be impressive, but he was the only one for me that I looked at and was like, wow, that is seriously impressive.”

Scott posted that 64 during the final round at the Cadillac Championship. It saw him register his second top 10 of the year on the PGA Tour.

It does appear that Scott is not too far away from being able to contend for a significant victory again. He also finished fourth at Riviera earlier this year, while he only just missed out on a top 10 at Bay Hill.

Scott is also about to make his 100th consecutive major championship appearance at the US Open. His longevity is incredible. And it would be no surprise to see that run extend quite some way over the next few years.

Remarkably, the 45-year-old is inside the top 25 for driving distance on the PGA Tour this season. He is also second for strokes gained approach.

So he is far from winding his career down.
