AAU lecturer dies in Edo hotel after “services” with 21-years old

The police said the lecturer later asked the woman to leave the room to purchase water for him.

However, when she returned to the room, she reportedly found Uwuigbe lying lifeless and raised an alarm, leading to the report of the incident to the police.

“The woman returned to the room and discovered Uwuigbe lying lifeless, prompting the report to the police,” the police spokesperson stated.

Investigation Underway

The police said the arrests were made as part of efforts to determine the events leading to the lecturer’s death.

Ikoedem stressed that the circumstances surrounding the incident remained under investigation, indicating that the police had not concluded the cause of death.

The command is expected to establish the sequence of events surrounding Uwuigbe’s final moments and determine whether there were any circumstances requiring further police action.

The death of the university lecturer has attracted attention in Ekpoma as investigators work to clarify what happened before he was found unresponsive in the hotel room.

Remains Deposited at Mortuary

The remains of Uwuigbe have been deposited at the Oriaifo Memorial Hospital Mortuary for preservation, according to the police.

The command said the remains would remain at the mortuary pending the outcome of the investigation.

The police have not disclosed a cause of death, while the circumstances surrounding the lecturer’s death remain subject to investigation.

Authorities are expected to continue questioning those arrested and examine relevant information that could assist in establishing the circumstances of the incident.
