4-star edge rusher Uhila Wolfgramm commits to BYU

The top uncommitted prospect from Utah has made a college decision, and he’s staying home.

Maple Mountain High edge rusher Uhila Wolfgramm announced Thursday via social media his commitment to BYU, as the Cougars beat out the other team in his final two, Oklahoma.

Who is Uhila Wolfgramm?

Wolfgramm is rated a four-star recruit with a .9241 overall rating in 247 Sports’ composite rankings. 247 Sports rated him the No. 2 overall prospect from the state of Utah in the 2027 class, while he is No. 4 in the composite rankings.

Of the three primary national recruiting services, along with Rivals and ESPN, 247 Sports rates Wolfgramm the highest — in their rankings, he is the No. 105 overall prospect in the 2027 class and No. 13 at his position.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Wolfgramm made his final official visit at BYU on June 19, and prior to that, he took an official visit to Oklahoma at the end of May. Other schools that he also visited this summer included Utah, California and UCLA, per 247 Sports.

Wolfgramm is coming off a junior season where he had 36 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and six quarterback hurries for Maple Mountain, according to MaxPreps.

Why is Uhila Wolfgramm’s commitment significant?

Wolfgramm is the 11th commitment for BYU in the 2027 class, and he is the program’s highest-rated pledge in this cycle, ahead of the Cougars’ other four-star commit, wide receiver Blake Wong.

Wong committed to BYU last week.

The Cougars held off the Sooners, even as two other Utah prep stars, Davis High wide receiver/safety Bode Sparrow and Orem High edge rusher Krew Jones, committed to Oklahoma and were active on social media in trying to get Wolfgramm to join them.
