The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday and signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa.

According to the ministry, the additional flight was organised to transport Nigerians who were unable to return on Thursday’s evacuation flight.

It explained that the arrangement was made to ensure that all Nigerians who completed their travel documentation within the approved deadline were evacuated without delay.

The ministry said the flight was expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 8:50 pm on Friday.

The statement also commended Air Peace for supporting the evacuation exercise.

The ministry further disclosed that another evacuation flight is expected next week to bring home about 300 more Nigerians from South Africa.

It added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to the safety, welfare and successful return of Nigerians affected by the ongoing xenophobic incidents in South Africa.
