Bryce Harper has crazy idea for 2026 Home Run Derby

The Home Run Derby will take place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, showcasing one of the most thrilling events in MLB, second only to the All-Star Game. Bryce Harper has proposed an intriguing idea that could captivate baseball fans. Bryce Harper, who won a Home Run Derby back in 2018, is ready to compete with many other participants this year.

Bryce Harper proposed the idea of metal bats being allowed in bonus time. We have seen the power of all of these stars with wooden bats. In college, the power was unmatched. Seeing Kyle Schwarber with a metal bat was must-see television, and he just announced that he is joining Bryce Harper in the derby.

Fans love far home runs, and with the addition of metal bats in bonus time, there are more home runs that can surpass 500 ft. Hearing about any home run that is hit over 500 ft is impressive. Bonus time can add this element and can take the derby to a new level.  

The players who have been announced for the derby are Junior Caminero (Rays), Ben Rice (Yankees), Kyle Schwarber (Phillies), Willson Contreras (Red Sox), Jac Caglianone (Royals), Jordan Walker (Cardinals), and Bryce Harper (Phillies). 

Metal bats in these players’ hands would be a great addition to the game. Gold balls are used when the player enters bonus time, and having metal bats hit baseballs out of the park would be a sight to see. All of these players have great stories heading into the derby.
