27 Ajegunle girls secure full academic scholarships to university

Held under the theme “Beyond Limits: Scripting Your Own Story,” the summit brought together educational stakeholders, microfinance institutions, and over 400 young girls to drive digital, academic, and economic inclusion.

A Multi-Tier Private Sector Funding Coalition

The foundation successfully mobilised corporate and individual donors to address the high rate of female school dropouts in the community. The scholarship framework features a structured, multi-tier funding layout, which includes:

• Addosser Microfinance Bank: Awarded direct cash grants of N50,000 each to 20 exceptional students to cover immediate textbooks and uniform levies.
• LAPO Microfinance Bank: Granted five girls full academic scholarships spanning from Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) through Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2).
• Individual Philanthropists: Fully underwrote two complete long-term scholarships carrying students through their choice public universities.
• Teacher Recognition Fund: Acknowledged the critical role of frontline educators by awarding cash gifts of N50,000 each to teachers from participating schools.

Paying Forward the Gift of Education

The Convener of the foundation, Blessing Sunday, explained that the selection matrix was meticulously designed to prioritise academic potential, moral character, and severe financial need, targeting girls from marginalised families who would otherwise be forced out of school.

The conference also featured a powerful address by award-winning actor, author, and purity advocate Juliana Olayode, who shared her emotional life journey to inspire the girls to break through societal barriers.

To provide immediate, practical support, the foundation distributed sanitary pads to over 400 attendees as part of a campaign that has secured 8,000 pieces over the past year.

One beneficiary, Aisha Adebayo of St. Philen’s College, accompanied by her mother, Ramota Adebayo, expressed immense gratitude to her individual sponsor, noting that the scholarship has completely lifted an overwhelming financial burden from her family.
