As a film that makes viewers feel warm and fuzzy, one of its biggest strengths is the fact that it makes people deeply invested in its characters. As such, the fact that several of the actors who brought them to life have just reunited is a big deal.

On October 21, Just Jared’s X account shared photos of several of The Families Stone’s lead actors filming in Brooklyn. The images, which were credited to Backgrid, show Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Claire Danes, and Luke Wilson all in warm winter garb that would be fitting for the upcoming project. Each actor was pictured on city streets.

Since it was confirmed that it was going to be produced, the sequel has been highly anticipated. As new information about the project has trickled out, such as the confirmation that Jean Smart has joined The Families Stone’s cast, it has caused a lot of interest. Still, these images are arguably the most exciting tidbit about the project that has come out since the movie was initially announced.

Of course, seeing any of The Family Stone’s stars returning to their memorable characters would be fantastic. However, the reason these images are especially remarkable is due to the specific actors included.

In The Family Stone, Claire Danes and Sarah Jessica Parker portrayed the sisters Julie and Meredith Morton, respectively. Their characters got wrapped up in an odd romantic dynamic with brothers Everett and Ben Stone, who were embodied by Dermot Mulroney and Luke Wilson. When Everett was dating Meredith, he fell for her sister Julie, even though the pair have since been accused of being a movie couple with little chemistry. At the same time, Meredith caught the eye of Ben, who saw her for who she was. The whole thing was a major mess.

After the dysfunctional way each pair got together by the end of the first film, their relationships easily could have exploded. Additionally, for people who have enjoyed Danes’ best roles, it is also tantalizing that images imply that she may have a bigger role in The Family Stone 2.
