Uganda has continued to grapple with a high rate of road traffic accidents, particularly those involving commercial buses and heavy-duty vehicles, often attributed to poor road conditions and other safety concerns.
In October 2025, at least 46 people were killed after two buses collided on one of the country’s major highways.
Official statistics released in 2024 showed that Uganda recorded 4,434 fatal road crashes, resulting in 5,144 deaths.
