2028 four star edge rusher scheduled to visit Penn State this weekend

As Big Ten play gets underway for the Nittany Lions, Matt Campbell will continue to not only focus on the season, but on Penn State’s recruiting profile. In last year’s cycle, Campbell and his new staff failed to make an impression on the players in the most important recruiting battleground state for the Nittany Lions: Pennsylvania itself. Now though, Matt Campbell is making a push to bring more Pennsylvania recruits in for a visit, especially players in the 2028 cycle. One edge rusher in particular could be a name to look out for.

George Parkinson IV has been one of the most highly touted prospects out of the state of Pennsylvania in the 2020 cycle. The four star prospect is the No. 88 prospect in the entire nation, and the No. 13 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania. Should Campbell land him, it would be a major step forward for the new coaching staff. Parkinson will headline a group of 60 plus players that Campbell will try and convince with a first ever Big Ten win as the head coach.

Matt Campbell has proven that he can get early results from a roster heavily loaded with tons of transfer talent. He has the Nittany Lions at 3-0 headed into Big Ten play, playing clean, efficient football on both sides. Still, the true test of any Big Ten coach, but especially at Penn State, is the ability to recruit at a high level. While Campbell held on to some important recruits last year, he also lost a lot, whether it be due to flips to other programs or simply decommitments from players who committed when Franklin was still there.

Now, beginning with Parkinson, is his chance to make amends. And if he can’t, then there may be slight warning signs in Happy Valley.
