The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said Zamfara State recorded 2,265,175 registered voters as of August 2026, an increase of 16.04 per cent from the 1,952,060 recorded during the 2023 general elections.

The Zamfara Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mahmuda Isah disclosed this in Gusau during a stakeholders’ meeting on the 2027 general elections and Permanent Voter Card, PVC, collection.

Isah said the increase represented 313,115 additional registrations, stressing the need for effective voter mobilisation and public enlightenment.

He added that the voter register would undergo verification and validation in line with electoral laws and approved procedures to ensure its accuracy and credibility.

The REC said PVC collection would continue at INEC offices across the state’s 14 local government areas following the conclusion of ward-level collection.

He urged registered voters who had yet to collect their cards to visit their respective local government INEC offices and collect them personally.
