2027 5-star RB, Texas A&M target, predicted to land with SEC rival

One of Texas A&M’s remaining priority prospects in the Aggies’ No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class received a prediction to land with the Texas Longhorns, as five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis has taken official visits with Indiana, SMU, Oregon, Houston, Missouri, Texas A&M, and with the Longhorns on June 19, while his final decision could come down to an NIL bidding war.

Under third-year coach Mike Elko and Athletic Director Trev Alberts, Texas A&M’s NIL spending in the 2027 cycle has reached a reported $10 million, proving that the Aggies aren’t shying away from spending the necessary funds to land the top prospects in the class, which includes five-star OL Mark Matthews, who is the No. 1-ranked tackle in the cycle.

Landen Williams-Callis is one of the most productive players in the high school ranks, producing 4,049 yards and 66 touchdowns at Randle HS in Richmond (TX), including 2,103 yards and 43 touchdowns during his 2024 junior campaign. In 2025, his success continued, rushing for 3,502 rushing yards and 59 touchdowns on 10.8 yards per carry.

According to AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway, Texas, Houston, and SMU have “picked up momentum” and are willing to spend a boatload to land the five-star running back, while the Aggies aren’t particularly desperate to overspend, given the addition of freshman running backs KJ Edwards and Carsyn Baker.

Going off of Callaway’s intel, the name to watch, if the Texas does land Williams-Callis, is current Texas Tech commit and four-star running back SaRod Baker, who is expected to make his way back to College Station sometime this fall.
