Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has praised his players for their outstanding performance in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup against Japan.
Busari guided Nigeria to their maiden title following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Japan’s Little Nadeshiko in the final.
The Flamingos began their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Poland but bounced back in impressive fashion, winning their remaining six matches to emerge champions.
Their triumph also made history, as they became the first team to lose their opening match and go on to lift the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup trophy.
Speaking after the final, Busari commended his players for their determination and fighting spirit, insisting that they gave everything to secure the historic victory.
“We came together to fight this battle like gladiators. I told the players that if we gave everything, we would smile at the end,” Busari said.
