2026 Solheim Cup: Europe takes 7-5 lead after Saturday morning foursomes

The deadlock is over. Europe now leads by two at the Solheim Cup, and it’s no thanks to its two best players, Lottie Woad and Charley Hull. The pair of top-10 players are now 0-2-1 after three sessions and, incredibly, will go back out in the afternoon for a fourth time.

Meanwhile, a pair of newcomers in Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud made history by becoming the first pair of rookies to win two matches in the same cup, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Nordqvist chose to break them up for four-balls, sitting Rhodes and pairing Nadaud with Leona Maguire, who is 2-0 this week.

“I have to say we didn’t really expect to play this morning foursomes,” said Nadaud. “Like, it was a great surprise yesterday. But, yeah, as Mimi said, we played very sensible and had loads of fairways and greens and gave ourselves opportunities. Yeah, it was a pretty good morning.”

Maguire, in fact, made her own piece off history by becoming the fastest player to reach 10 wins in the Solheim Cup, overtaking a record held by Nelly Korda and Dottie Pepper.

“The crowd was amazing today,” said Maguire. “They really helped us turn the momentum on the back nine.”

No. 1 Korda and Allisen Corpuz were a perfect 5-0 in foursomes until they came up against Maja Stark and Linn Grant, two Swedes who haven’t dropped a shot in the format all week. Stark and Grant were 6 under through 16 holes in their 3-and-2 victory on Saturday. They’re a combined 10 under across both alternate-shot sessions.

Korda and Corpuz were 3 under in Saturday’s match.

Lauren Coughlin and Alison Lee are both undefeated this week, delivering a thrashing to Woad and Hull, 6 and 5, in morning’s anchor match. Coughlin, 33, remains undefeated in Solheim Cup play with a 5-0-2 record.
